An American Musical is a sung-and-rapped-through musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It tells the story of America's founding father, Alexander Hamilton. Miranda said he was inspired to write the musical after reading a biography Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. The musical incorporates various popular styles of music such as Hip Hop, R&B, Pop and Soul, written like a traditional show tunes. It also casts non-white actors as the founding fathers and other historical figures. To Marinda, Hamilton is a showcase of "America then, as told by America now".

Piragua is inspired by a Puerto Rican dessert of the same name - a shaved ice dessert that is shaped like a cone and covered with fruit syrup. They are sold by vendors affectionately known as piragüeros in traditionally brightly-coloured pushcarts in Miranda's home town. Besides Puerto Rico, Piraguas can be found in mainland areas of the United States with large Puerto Rican communities such as New York and Central Florida.
